Once you have established residency in Maine, you have 30 days to convert your registrations and titles (if any) to Maine.

If there is a lien on the vehicle, you will need to provide the name and mailing address of the lien holder.

Please note, you will be exempt from payment of sales tax if you are in possession of your current out-of-state registration certificate; however, a Maine Use (sales) Tax form must be completed.

An application for a Maine certificate of title can be obtained by contacting the Title Unit in Augusta.
